Liberty Hill Foundation’s 32nd Annual Upton Sinclair Dinner, which took place Tuesday evening, April 22nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, was a huge success! A summary of the event was best stated by our President and CEO Shane Murphy Goldsmith below …
“How do you keep hope alive? One way is to be among the 760 lovers of justice who crowded into the ballroom at the Beverly Hilton last night for the 2014 Upton Sinclair Dinner. There was an overwhelming outpouring of love and generosity, inspired by the examples of courage shown by workers who put their very jobs on the line to stand up against wage theft, workplace violations and exploitation as they described on video. With your participation and support of Liberty Hill, you stood with these workers and so many other grassroots leaders fighting for economic justice, environmental justice and LGBTQ equality in Los Angeles.
We are inspired anew by our honorees: Kafi Blumenfield, Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, Veronica Gutierrez and Scott Budnick. We also want to thank the thoughtful presenters and special guests who contributed so much to the room’s electric sense of community and energy.
BUT IT’S NOT OVER YET!! Liberty Hill’s scandalously enjoyable and dangerously tempting once-a-year online auction is up and running through Sunday, April 27!! Please check out the concert tickets, signed memorabilia, collectible art and other must-have items. Proceeds benefit us, and it’s a fun way to give!
And, of course, you can check out our album of photos on Facebook.”
